Competition Pool

Sandpoint High School fields a swim team of 36. They currently train eight to a lane. The youth Sharks program carries 91 athletes and has no home pool of its own.

The competition pool is planned at 22,301 square feet with an adjoining 11,310 square foot diving well, held between 79 and 82°F. Dimensions are 25 yards by 30 yards with room designed in for a future expansion to 25 yards by 50 meters, and depths run from 8 to 16 feet. Three boards — two at one meter and one at three — support a dive team. An accessible entry lift serves swimmers who need it.

The same water supports water polo, synchronized swimming, deep-water rescue, lifeguard certification, SCUBA instruction, and kayak and boat safety training for a county built around a lake.
