Ice Rinks

Right now a local hockey family drives roughly two hours to Cheney for ice time and gets home between midnight and one in the morning, on a school night.

The plan is a full-size indoor rink at 23,561 square feet with its own lobby, Zamboni bay and ice plant, plus an outdoor rink in the surrounding recreation area. A 1,371 square foot observation room lets families watch warm.

Putting the rink next to the pools is a deliberate engineering decision, not a convenience: waste heat from the ice plant is used to help warm the water. It cuts running cost and it is the kind of choice that makes a facility affordable to operate for decades, not just to build.
